AI Readiness Advisory

Is Your Dealership Ready for the AI Shopping Era?

ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are already shaping where your customers go. Most dealerships have no idea what those tools are saying about them — or who they're recommending instead.

Drive360's AI Readiness Advisory brings 35 years of dealership operations expertise to a single, vendor-agnostic question: where is AI costing you revenue, and what should you do about it?

The AI Shift

Your Buyer Just Changed Their First Stop

For fifteen years, your shoppers started on Google. In 2026, they start somewhere else. By the time they reach your VDP — if they reach it at all — they've already been told who to call, what to expect, and which three competitors to consider.

01 / Adoption
44%
of car shoppers used AI in 2025

The behavior shift is already here

97% of those shoppers say AI will influence their next purchase. ChatGPT alone drives ~87% of all AI referral traffic to dealer websites. That referral traffic converts at multiples of cold form-fills — but only if AI knows you exist.

02 / Invisibility
73%
of dealers we assess are invisible to AI

Most dealers don't show up — and don't know it

When we ask ChatGPT "best dealer near [your market]," your store has either a clear citation, a passing mention, or no presence at all. Most don't know which. That blind spot is the difference between a steady AI lead stream and watching shoppers be quietly redirected to competitors.

03 / Velocity
< 5min
decay window on AI-warmed leads

AI-warmed shoppers won't wait

78% buy from the first responder. AI-warmed shoppers arrive pre-qualified and impatient — they expect substantive answers in minutes, not hours. Most dealership BDC processes are calibrated to a buying journey that no longer exists.

Vendor advice is increasingly conflicted

The vendors who would normally advise you on AI strategy are being absorbed into bundled ecosystems with their own marketplace conflicts. Independent operational advice — from someone who doesn't sell software — has never been more valuable.

What We Assess

Four Operational Areas, One Honest Picture

Drive360's AI Readiness Advisory examines the four operational areas where AI is reshaping dealer economics — and tells you, clearly, where your store stands today and what it would take to fix what's broken.

AI Discovery Visibility

How does your dealership appear in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews when shoppers ask the questions that matter? We measure citation rate, recommendation rate, and where competitors are getting picked instead.

  • 50-query weekly visibility audit across all major AI tools
  • Competitor benchmarking and share-of-voice
  • Schema, llms.txt, structured data audit
  • Google Business Profile and citation footprint

Lead Response & Conversion

The AI-warmed shopper arrives at your dealership half-sold and impatient. We assess your response architecture across web form, SMS, missed call, and chat — measuring whether your operation meets the new buyer's expectations.

  • End-to-end response time analysis (24/7)
  • After-hours and weekend handling review
  • BDC workflow and CRM cadence audit
  • Lead routing and SLA compliance

Communication Intelligence

Phone calls remain the dominant lead channel — and the most under-monitored. We analyze your call architecture, routing logic, screen-pop quality, and the operational gaps where AI-driven shoppers actually reach you (or don't).

  • 3CX/VoIP routing and queue analysis
  • Missed-call recovery audit
  • Screen-pop and CRM context delivery
  • Call sentiment and outcome pattern review

Attribution & Identity Integrity

Most dealers cannot trace an AI-influenced shopper from first mention to delivered unit. We map your customer identity flow across DMS, CRM, phone system, and website — surfacing the gaps where attribution breaks and revenue gets miscounted.

  • Cross-system customer identity audit
  • Attribution path documentation
  • Source/channel data integrity review
  • Executive reporting accuracy validation
How It Works

Structured. Vendor-Agnostic. Operationally Grounded.

The AI Readiness Advisory follows the same proven engagement model that built our practice: assess first, align second, intelligence ongoing. Clarity before change.

1

Assessment

We begin with a comprehensive AI Readiness Assessment — analyzing your current visibility, response architecture, communication flows, and attribution integrity. No software installed. No vendor pitches. Just an honest operational picture.

Timeline: 2–3 weeks Deliverable: AI Readiness Score + 30/60/90 roadmap
2

Alignment

Based on assessment findings, we align your operational priorities, document what to fix in-house versus where outside help is warranted, and build a roadmap that respects your team's capacity and budget. Vendor recommendations only when warranted.

Timeline: 2–4 weeks Deliverable: Action plan, vendor guidance, KPI baseline
3

Ongoing Intelligence

Continuous monitoring of your AI visibility, monthly executive summaries, quarterly strategic reviews. We stay in your corner as the AI landscape shifts — month to month, no long-term contracts.

Timeline: Ongoing Deliverable: Sustained operational clarity

Why Drive360

Operationally Grounded. Vendor Agnostic. Dealer-Side.

Most consultants parachute in with theoretical frameworks. Rick spent 35 years on the dealership floor before becoming an advisor. That experience is the entire product.

35 Years on the Floor

Sales, fixed ops, parts, accounting, DMS migrations, CRM rollouts. Not theory — lived operational experience across every dealership function.

Vendor Agnostic

No software sold. No vendor commissions. No preferred partnerships that bias the recommendation. Your operational needs come first, period.

Dealer-Side Advocacy

We work for dealerships, not vendors. When vendor promises conflict with operational reality, we advocate for you — every time.

Results, Not Billable Hours

Fixed-fee engagements. Month-to-month retainers. We measure success by operational improvement and revenue impact — not by how many hours we logged.

Honest Answers

The Questions Dealer Principals Actually Ask

No marketing fluff. These are the things every operator asks in the first call.

How is this different from Drive360's existing advisory work?
The AI Readiness Advisory is a focused application of the same Drive360 methodology — clarity before change, vendor agnostic, dealer-side — applied specifically to the operational disruption AI is creating for dealerships. Existing Drive360 clients can add AI Readiness as a focused module within their broader operational engagement; new clients can engage Drive360 entirely through the AI Readiness path.
Do you sell any AI software or take commissions?
No. Drive360 doesn't sell software, doesn't take vendor commissions, and doesn't have preferred-partner kickback arrangements. If the assessment finds that you should buy a specific vendor's tool, we'll tell you — and we'll help you negotiate the contract. But we have zero economic incentive in that recommendation. That independence is the entire value proposition.
Do I need to change my DMS, CRM, or phone system?
Almost certainly not. Most operational problems we find are caused by configuration, workflow, and visibility gaps — not by the underlying systems. Drive360's philosophy is "clarity before change": we'll help you maximize what you already have, and only recommend changes when the operational case is genuinely warranted.
What does the AI Readiness Assessment actually deliver?
A documented operational picture across four pillars (AI visibility, lead response, communication intelligence, attribution integrity), a quantified AI Readiness Score, a revenue-at-risk model showing where you're losing units to AI-driven competitors, and a prioritized 30/60/90-day roadmap. Plus a working session with Rick to walk leadership through the findings.
How is this different from what Impel, Fullpath, or Numa offer?
Those companies sell AI software products. Drive360 sells operational advice. They have an inherent incentive to recommend their own platform; Drive360 has an incentive to recommend whatever is genuinely best for your operation — which may or may not include any of those tools. We're consultants. They're vendors. Both can be valuable; they're not the same thing.
Who is Rick McLey and why should I trust his judgment?
Rick has 35+ years across nearly every dealership function — sales floor, fixed operations, parts, accounting, DMS migrations, enterprise CRM deployment. He's lived through the operational realities most consultants only theorize about. The AI Readiness Advisory exists because he's been watching the AI shift play out across the dealerships he works with and saw an unmet need for honest, operationally grounded advice.
Are there long-term contracts?
No. Drive360 operates on fixed-fee assessments and month-to-month retainers. No multi-year commitments. If we're not delivering value, you're free to walk away. We've built the practice around earning trust through results, not by locking customers into agreements.
What if AI search slows down or Google's AI Overviews lose traction?
The AI Readiness Advisory examines four pillars — only one of which is AI search visibility. The other three (lead response, communication intelligence, attribution integrity) deliver operational lift regardless of how the AI search landscape evolves. Even in the bear case for AI, the operational findings stand on their own merit.
